GOLDEN CIRCLE- Activity 1

1. What symbols has the company used to represent the brand? Does the brand use any Australian symbols or icons in their designs (if so; identify the symbols and their meanings)
Golden circle has used a simple banner symbol as there logo with their brand name written on an angle within the banner. When placed on products and advertisements ‘Golden Circle’ also places the symbol of a rising golden sun behind the banner. This is something that can associate this brand with Australia, as Australia is known for it’s scorching summers and amazing sunny beaches.

2. What colours have the company used to represent the brand?
The colours used in this logo-type to represent the brand are red and yellow with a hint of white used for the text. Different shades of these colours have been used to create a palette of warm colours that evoke the meaning of the word ‘golden’.

3. What sort of message do you think the colours are trying to convey?
The choice of red and yellow are used to convey the meaning behind the company name, ‘Golden Circle’. Although red can be a very strong, overwhelming and powerful colour I think the way it has been used in this logo has made convey the message of a bright, fresh and almost ‘fruitful’ company.

4. What style of typography has the company used (serif/san serif/italic/bold) and what does this say about the brand?
This logo uses a simple, round san serif typeface. By using this typeface the brand is being portrayed as a clean, fresh-faced brand. The type-face is quite a sleek thin type-face that has been used in its original form rather than in bold or italic.
